Event Description: ARD posters will be promoted in schools around the area. The poster for each school will have information on its recycling amounts, money earned, and county ranking from the previous quarter. The schools will be challenged to increase the amount recycled, money earned, and their county ranking in the second quarter through methods established during the ARD recycling week.

Event Description: The TN Dept. of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) will host shoe collection drives to support "Sole4Souls" a Nasheville-based charile [501(c)3 organization] that facilitates the donation of shoes to those in need worldwide. TDEC will provide "Soles4Souls" shoe collection stations at our regional field offices in Nashville and Cookeville, TN, for a two week period beginning November 9th through November 20th, 2009. TDEC staff, state employees in other nearby offices, as well as the general public in the surrounding communities are invited to participate. This event is being held in conjunction with America Recycles Day (November 15) as a way to both promote recycling awareness, as well as to support a worthy charitable cause. By donating their gently worn shoes, citizens can make a real different in the lives of people in need, and at the same time participate in an activity that benefits our environment and promotes the reuse and conservation of natural resources.
